Distance Format
Interns completing ALL rotations in a Distance Format (Outside of Utah)

The USU Dietetic Internship is uniquely flexible. It allows interns to choose their training location at a time that is convenient to them.  To do this, applicants are responsible for arranging ALL of their practice facilities and preceptors on their own.  The types of rotations and facilities are the same for each intern regardless of where they choose to train.

Rotations/Facilities will include the following:
  •  Foodservice Systems Management (FSSM) &
  • School Nutrition Education (SNE)
    • Public School District
  • Clinical Nutrition
    • Medical Facility and/or Hospital
    • Outpatient facilities
  • Public Health Nutrition (PHN)
    • WIC Clinic
    • Other community nutrition agencies
Special forms need to be completed by each of the facilities and preceptors that you arrange to work with you. These forms need to be included in your application materials. A complete application must include forms filled out for all facilities and preceptors. The selection committee will look at the completeness of each applicant's materials to ensure the applicant will be able to finish all rotations in a distance format at quality facilities.  For more information on finding preceptors and acceptable training facilities and to obtain preceptor and facility forms see "Finding Preceptors".
